If you’ve been circling the idea of color analysis but aren’t sure what to expect, this is for you.
At my studio in Mount Pleasant, just a few miles from downtown Charleston, I offer a precise, in-person experience using the Sci/ART method. This system is known for its objectivity, structure, and ability to reveal the colors that make you the focus.
So let’s walk through what happens when you come in for your session.
The Studio Experience
Located inside Stox & Co., my space is designed to be both relaxing and highly calibrated. With neutral gray surroundings and professional lighting (6500K full-spectrum, flicker-free bulbs with a CRI of 95), every detail is intentional so what we see is real and reliable.
What Happens During the Session
You’ll be seated in front of a mirror and lighting, wearing a neutral gray cape and bonnet to remove external color influence. Then we begin a series of precision draping tests using calibrated fabric drapes to assess how your features respond to hue, temperature, value, and chroma.
We employ a method of elimination and observation.
The goal? To find the colors that makes you appear brighter, clearer, and more defined.
What Happens After You Receive Your Seasonal Color Placement
After the analysis, the biggest question then becomes: How do I actually apply this to real life? What does this look like when you’re shopping, getting dressed, or clearing out your closet?
That’s exactly what we explore next.
We’ll take a look at your season’s luxury drapes, a set of 15 curated fabric swatches that align with your color range. These are different from the testing drapes. I always like to remind clients that the testing drapes are for accuracy, not aesthetics. You’re not expected to fall in love with them. The luxury drapes are meant to give you a real sense of the beauty and range within your season. They’re sourced and meticulously tested by another small business here in the USA who’s just as invested in this work as I am.
From there, we’ll go through the personal items you brought (clothing, accessories, and makeup) and test them for harmony. You’ll start to see what works, how it works, and why. For many clients, this part naturally begins the “editing” process. You’ll get hands-on practice using your palette, and I’ll guide you through how to use your new tools confidently and intuitively.
What You Leave With
By the end of your session, you’ll walk away with:
- A precise seasonal placement based on objective testing
- A 78-color palette fan printed on archival-quality canvas
- A lip palette with 20 harmonized reds
- An eye palette with 20 flattering shades
- A wallet-sized card for on-the-go shopping
- A mini tutorial on how to use your palette in daily life
- Insights into how your makeup, wardrobe, and jewelry align with your palette
Following your appointment, you’ll receive a follow-up email with a list of the clean beauty product suggestions tailored to your color range, helpful resources and shopping advice and tips for inviting in your new colors, and additional digital resources.
This way, you leave not only with clarity but also a starting point.
Why This Work Matters
Some of my clients come in during a big life transition like a new job, getting married, becoming a mom, or just feeling disconnected from their style and needing a fresh start.
Others are simply looking for clarity. They’re tired of wasting money on clothes that don’t get worn and makeup that never gets used. They want to know what to keep, what to let go of, and how to bring more intentionality to how they dress and shop, whether that’s for personal values, environmental reasons, or just to reduce decision fatigue.
Color analysis is a visual tool that makes all of that easier. It helps you understand why some pieces feel right and others don’t and gives you a clear starting point for navigating the world of color that actually works.
